Wisdom Within Reach

1 My child, listen to what I say,
and treasure my commands.
2 Tune your ears to wisdom,
and concentrate on understanding.
3 Cry out for insight,
and ask for understanding.
4 Search for them as you would for silver;
seek them like hidden treasures.
5 Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord,
and you will gain knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:1-6 NLT

I don't know about you, but too often, I say "I just don't know what to do!" when faced with new circumstances or difficult decisions. But God has already made a provision for me, and for you. He says in His word that if I will listen, tune my ears, cry out for, search for wisdom, He will grant it! Whether I need direction for next steps, help making wise decisions, or guidance in finances or relationships, God's Word, the Bible, contains all the wisdom I will ever need. His wisdom is within reach! But I must do the listening, the crying out, the searching: I must read it for myself. Not casually or occasionally, but as one digging for treasure, every day.

If you don't have a plan for daily Bible reading, try this one on for size: 1 chapter from Psalms. 1 chapter from Proverbs (there are 31, 1 for every day of the month), 1 chapter from the Old testament. 1 chapter from the New Testament. Make sure you get a translation of the Bible you can read and enjoy (I love both the New Living and NIV translations). This takes about 15 minutes a day. Fifteen life-changing, mood altering, empowering minutes a day. Are you up to it? Go ahead. His wisdom is within your reach! Already have a Bible reading plan? Don't keep it to yourself, share it with us!
